Do you have to sing the blues to sing about whiskey? Nothing in the rule book that says you do. Do you have to be a dude to sing about whiskey? That's not in the rule book either. Merline Johnson gets deep in the bottle, metaphorically speaking, just as well as her brethren. She doesn't need any growl or swagger either to deliver her "Bad Whiskey Blues". But, unlike the title, this number is smooth and polished.
